Jasmin MahmuzićDirector of the Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH, participated in the 2018 Deloitte Banking Conference held under the slogan – Changes cannot wait. As one of the panelists, he spoke about the challenges of changes in the regulatory framework in the financial industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a focus on the implementation of Basel III and its impact on banking. He pointed out that the role of the supervisor is primarily to protect the stability of the banking sector and depositors, but also to take into account needs in the operations of banks. It is important to implement Basel III in a way that is adapted to the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and monitor what effects it has on the banking system. As a regulatory institution, the Agency is ready to adapt to changes on the banking market in BiH, and the same is expected of banks, concluded Mahmuzić.

Trends in management and sale of non-performing loans (NPLs) were also discussed at the conference as an effective method of resolution of banks and other related financial institutions, as were challenges of implementation of digital banking in BiH, which brings a lot of novelties and opportunities for business improvement.

In addition to the Banking Agency of the FBiH, the the conference was also attended by management members of numerous banks in BiH, representatives of the IMF, the World Bank and other international financial institutions.
