BiH Federation Banking Agency Has Established Data Sharing on Potential Attacks on Banking Information Systems
In order to establish an adequate protection of the information systems, a joint meeting with all Banking Information System Security Managers in the FBiH was held on October 11th, 2019, in the offices of the Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH.
The topic of the meeting was timely sharing of important information on the phenomena that might point to attempts to misuse the information system from the outside (attempts to attack information systems, ATMs, cards business systems, electronic banking, etc.).
The fact is that information system is no longer only a banking business support tool, it has evolved into a tool that also creates a comparative advantage of a bank, both through business process digitalization processes within the bank and through opening of new channels to financial consumers and provision of new types of services, which rely mainly on new information technologies. The banks have been increasingly opening themselves up to the outside, increasing potential for information system misuse from the outside.
Timely information sharing on potential cyberattacks is one of the critical factors in the establishment of prevention, detection and containment of spreading of potential damage caused by such attacks.
Through the establishment of timely information sharing within the FBiH banking sector, the FBiH Banking Agency will help banks in as efficient prevention of banking information system misuses and their protection against attacks from the outside as possible.
